‘9 to 5 The Musical tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy – three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the girls manage to reform their office – or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
Inspired by the cult film and brought to you by Dolly herself, this hilarious new production is about teaming up, standing up and taking care of business!’
Following the success of ‘9 to 5 The Musical’ at London’s Savoy Theatre, the show’s producers announce that a second production of the show will tour the UK and Ireland, beginning at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham in September 2019, before visiting an additional ten cities.
The smash-hit musical features a book by the iconic film of the same name’s original screenwriter Patricia Resnick, and an Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score by the Queen of Country herself, Dolly Parton.
Regarding the tour, Dolly Parton said, “I am beyond thrilled to the response from across the pond to 9 to 5 The Musical. The overwhelmingly positive fan reaction to this universal story tickles every rhinestone on my body! I can’t wait for more people throughout the UK and Ireland to enjoy it and sing along”.
The London production stars Caroline Sheen as Violet Newstead (Louise Redknapp will take over the role from Monday 25th March) Amber Davies (Judy Bernly), Natalie McQueen (Doralee Rhodes), Bonnie Langford (Roz Keith) and Brian Conley (Franklin Hart). Casting for the tour is yet to be announced.
The musical is directed by Jeff Calhoun, and features choreography by Lisa Stevens, design by Tom Rodgers, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Poti Martin, video design by Nina Dunn, original arrangements by Stephen Oremus and Alex Lacamoire, original Broadway orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin, musical supervision, reductions and additional arrangements by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Victoria Roe.
‘9 to 5 The Musical’ is produced by Ambassador Theatre Group, Selladoor Worldwide and Gavin Kalin Productions, in association with Benjamin Lowy Productions, Glass Half Full Productions, Showtime Theatre Productions, Hartshorn – Hook Productions, Harmonia Holdings and Kilimanjaro Theatrical.
